Trip to the Tree Farm

Saturday - December 5, 2009

Saturday was a busy day! First, we went to a HUGE tree farm. This was the first time that we have ever done this, so we didn't really know what we were getting into. It was VERY COLD, and i was worried that it wouldn't be a lot of fun, but I was SOOO wrong! We had the BEST time!!! We went out on a tractor-drawn "ride" to the trees. We walked down rows and rows until we found the "perfect" tree. :-) Bryan had a little saw, and i thought that it would take a while, but it was pretty easy. I had to help by holding the tree up and i helped carry it for a little bit - lots of sap! I can say that i was not cold after lugging that very heavy tree! After we took the tree to the people that shake it out (we dont want to take home any furry friends!) and wrap it. Then we went into the shop and had hot chocolate and cookies. We had a Great time, and made Wonderful memories!!!
God is GOOD :-)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Sunday Fun

November 15, 2009

We took the girls Ice Skating with their Girl Scout Troup. I had a lot of fun watching Nicole and Bryan ice skate. Isabel wouldnt do it, so i stayed with her and talked with other parents. (She did go around the ice once sitting in a chair, while Bryan pushed her!) It was nice talking to grown ups! We had a good time. After skating, we went to eat at the mall and then on to the Borders to get the girls a new book. We also got the info on Sarah Pallin's book signing this Sat. :-) Bryan is really excited about meeting her. I am excited because i am going to see New Moon Sat. afternoon with some other girls!

Isabel Says...

November 12, 2009

OH DEAR, Isabel just brought up a book and said "i am reading this so i will know what to do when i get pregnant"!!!! WHAT!!!! The cover has a pic of a mom and baby. It is a book about things you can do with your child instead of watching TV! :-0

Loving Nicole and Isabel!

Somehow the girls are FULL of energy when they get home from school. Both girls wanted to read thier latest book. I LOVE that Nicole loves to read and I LOVE that she wants to do it on her own. BUT if the book is long, it can be a little painful!!! :-)

Oh yeah, NOW Nicole is reading the same book to Bryan! Hehehe He is NOT so patient! :-/

On another note...
Isabel is one of a kind. She has a habit of not shutting the door when she goes potty. She also sings while going (which is rather entertaining!) Today, Bryan came home & walked past the bathroom door and she said "DADDY SHUT THE DOOR!" Then when she exiited the b-room, we knew that she didnt flush, whipe, or wash her hands!!!

Trying a New Church

Sunday November 1, 2009

Greece Bible Baptist Church
http://www.fbbc.info/

The church we went to is HUGE - stadium seating, a Cafe, and a bookstore. Way larger than any I have ever been in before and at 1st i wasnt sure if i would like it - walking in was a little overwhelming.

But the Pastor and the message was Wonderful! I really liked his style, i liked that he preached from the KJV (my personal fav) and he kind of had a "Billy Graham" way of preaching the Word.

The girls also loved it and are excited to get back into AWANA's on Wed! The church also offers several home Bible studies, as well as Sunday night service & Wed night dinner and service. For the kids, they have all kinds of sports such as basketball and karate. The church also supports several ministries such as Prison, Nursing Home, Military Support, various "Recovery" groups, College Ministry, Womens Bible Study, Mens Bible Study, Couple's Bible Study etc.

What i liked most is that the service was BIBLE BASED and the Pastor is down to earth.

With a church that big, i thought that we would go "unnoticed", but i was so wrong. People made an effort to say "hello" and welcome us and the Pastor made a point to find us and introduce himself. We even met up with a group of people for lunch after the service. We all had a lot of fun.
I am actually looking forward to going Wed night! I pray that this is where God wants us right now... :-)

Uncle Gerri's Visit Con't...

October 17, 2009

After the boat ride, Gerri took the girls shopping! They picked out several things to go with their kitchen. We had planned on taking Gerri to Niagara Falls on Sunday, but Isabel had a fever start Sat night. Bryan and I ended up taking Both girls to the ER on Sunday morning. Both girls woke up with a fever - Isabel had a fever with a lot of coughing, and Nicole was throwing up. Nicole stopped throwing up, and then started the coughing and sneezing. By Monday, all 4 of us had fevers and were in the bed sick. :-(

Uncle Gerri's Visit - Getting Rerady for the Boat Ride!

October 17, 2009

Uncle Gerri came to visit! He arrived in Rochester around 9pm Friday Oct. 16th and stayed through the weekend. The girls were shy at first, but not for too long. Isabel warmed up the quickest. After picking Gerri up from the airport, we went to Red Robin for a late dinner. The girls had a really good time, and Isabel got a free sundae for her Birthday (thanks to Uncle Gerri!).
On Saturday, we went to the station and Bryan took Gerri for a boat ride. The water was too cold for the girls to go so we stayed back in Bryan's office and watched TV. I think the boys had a good ride!

October 10, 2009
The sun is finally out and the weather is perfect for a day of Fruit Picking! We picked A LOT of apples and a good bit of raspberries. After picking, we went and the girls played on the hay stacks and we got snacks - apple cider and homemade donuts. :-) Now lets Pray that we get some more sun this weekend!!!

Isabel's Tooth Comes Out!

Last night after a great deal of "Drama", Isabel's lost her 1st tooth!!! It became very traumatic for her when she saw the blood. There was a lot of screaming and crying while we worked to get the bleeding to stop! She was happy to wake up this morning with $5 from the Tooth Fairy :-)

Isabe's 1st Loose Tooth!

Last week at school Isabel "discovered" that she had a loose tooth. Her teacher's, Mrs. Zimmerman, description of what happened is hilarious! She said that she didn't know what to do because she never had a child respond to a loose tooth that way in all of her 13yrs of teaching Kindergarten. I will try to retell it.... Out of the blue, Isabel SCREAMED (with hands in the air) "I HAVE A LOOSE TOOTH!" She began to cry and say "I HAVE TO GO TO THE DENTIST RIGHT NOW!" She told Mrs. Zimmerman that her sister told her that someone had a loose tooth and they bled all over and could taste it. It took about an hour to calm her down, then she started again so Mrs. Z sent her to the nurse to see if she could calm her down. Yeap, that's my Isabel!

Her tooth is still loose and she was upset again tonight while i was trying to get her to go to sleep. I don't know how she is going to act when the thing comes out!!!

Here is the email Mrs. Z sent me that day....

I wanted to also let you know that this morning Isabel discovered that her tooth was loose. Instead of being so excited about this, she was extremely worried about it and had some tears. She immediately said that she had to go to the dentist and needed to go home. She also shared that when her friend's tooth came out there was blood all over. She seemed frightened that something was going to happen to her tooth, I did the best I could giving her positive thoughts about loose teeth etc., and at first she calmed down, but the Isabel started to complain of her tummy hurting. I think she was feeling so worried about her tooth that she was making herself not feel very good. So I had someone take her to the nurse and Judy was able to calm her down. Isabel has been fine since then, but I can tell that she is still worried about her tooth. When she gets off the bus, you might see her crying or desperately needing to tell you about her tooth. I have never had a child react this way about a loose tooth, so if you have any ideas on how to comfort Isabel tomorrow when she comes to school, I would appreciate it.

Off to School

It has been a long time since i last posted, and i have so much to post but not enough time!

For now, I will just post a couple of pics of the girls waiting for the school bus in the morning. These are not "First Day of School" pics, I will post those as soon as i download them to my laptop.

They go to "Autumn Lane Signature School of the Arts" (grades Pre-K - 2nd Grade) a school less than a mile from our house.

We went to Open House for Nicole last night, and everyone is VERY welcoming and very friendly. She has 2 teachers for 18 students - both of her teachers are Wonderful!

She has done her "testing" to see if she is on level etc. Her teachers said that she did Great and she is right where she is supposed to be. They also said that she is a very good student and they couldn't believe how well she does with writing!

I guess that 1/2 day Kindergarten wasn't so bad after all!!! :-) We actually had someone tell us that if she stayed in a 1/2 day K, she would NEVER (yeah the person was yelling!) make it in any "New York" school. Well it seems that she is "making it" and doing well!!!

God is Good and we are Blessed :-)

Saturday

We are off to get lunch at our new favorite Diner and then taking the girls to The Strongs National Museum of Play. This place is amazing! I have only been in the "lobby" and that was enough - WOW!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday. Oh Yeah, Today's High is 75!!!

Isabel Finds a Snake!

Isabel came running and yelling "I found a snake!" Of course we thought that it was probably just a stick or something. She was very serious and "matter-of-fact" about there really being a snake. So we all went over to see, and sure enough she was right! I went to get my camera and Nicole just went running. As we were taking pictures and watching the snake, Nicole yelled "I am going to call Papa and tell him that you are not being safe!" She was frantic and did call Papa to "tell" on us. Of course, the rest of us stayed out there watching the snake and taking pics and video. It felt great to get that close to the snake and not go running, as i have a terrible fear of snakes.
Oh yeah as you can see in the picture, Munro didn't have a clue. :-)

Coast Guard Day Picinic

Here are some pics from our CG Day Picinic. We had a good time; good food, nice conversation, and a little rain! Nothing too big, but the girls were able to meet some of the other kids, and they got to tour the boat. :-)

Bedtime Prayers

After we tuck the girls in to bed, we say our prayers - most of the time each will say one. Well tonight's Prayers were a little funny and a little heartbreaking......

Isabel: "God is great. God is good. Let us thank Him for our food. Amen."

Nicole: "Dear God, please keep Ganny alive and safe while she is in the hospital, and keep us safe when we move into our new house. Amen."

It was hard, but i kept my composure until i got back to my room. :-(

Farm House Pics

Rochester Waterfall

On Saturday, we took a trip to Downtown Rochester. The parts that we saw were not so pretty. It looks really rundown and not very clean (but we did not see everything). I think the area we went to is called "Center City Falls". We had a good time and the weather was great (not above 85!)

We did find the "Strong National Museum of Play". It is HUGE and not like ANYTHING i have ever seen for kids. I only went into the lobby area to get info, but that alone was huge! We will probably (most likely get the family year membership); i know that the girls will love it and that there will be plenty to do and see.
